“Games” Casting Notice

A clandestine meeting between two rivals appears to be for the exchange of covert information, the payoff of a blackmail demand, or the setup of a grand conspiracy. Or maybe it’s just the aftermath of romantic break-up.  Two so-called adults who just can’t pass up an opportunity to stick it to their former mate.

I am now casting my short film “Games”. Here is the script.  Here are the sides.

The roles are Ray and Melissa. Ray is a “regular guy” who can be self-centered and is rather oblivious to the people around him, especially his (ex-) girlfriend. He’s a bit of a doofus. Melissa is a smart, modern woman who is a bit annoyed that some guy is going to keep her from getting what she wants. In this case, what she wants is a successful relationship and she’s not above torturing her ex if it helps her avoid dealing with their breakup. The age range for both is mid-twenties to mid-thirties.

It is a simple one-scene, one-location story that is intended as a loose, fun project for a few people who want to get creative for a few hours. The project will be shot on 1080i high def video, maybe burned onto DVD, probably uploaded to YouTube. There is no pay for anybody, but I’ll write up an agreement that if by some miracle there is money made from it, profits will be shared by the participants. Obviously, it’s non-union.

I’m tentatively expecting to do a casting session on the weekend of Jan 31-Feb 1, with the shoot to be on a subsequent weekend (maybe Feb. 14 if the irony isn’t too much). Details will follow.
